(#1) Butterfly Release Memorial
As you release this butterfly in honor of me,
know that I'm with you and will always be.
Hold a hand, say a prayer, close your eyes and see me there.
Although you may feel a bit torn apart,
please know that I'll be forever in your heart.
Now fly away butterfly as high as you can go,
I'm right there with you more than you know.

(#2) Candle Lighting Memorial
Today we pause to reflect upon
those who have shaped our character,
molded our spirits and touched our hearts.
May the lighting of this candle be a
reminder of the memories we have shared,
a representation of the everlasting
impact you have made upon our lives.

(#3) I Didn't Get A Chance to Say Goodbye
To you, to tell you that I loved you, to say
What now must be one long, unbroken cry
Of pain, now that at last you've gone away.
I cannot tell you what a joy it was
To be the one to tend you in your need.
The burden was a gift, for giving does
Not burden one who loves, though loving bleed.
I wish I could have been with you when you,
Perhaps aware, perhaps not, turned towards death
Alone, with no one there to wonder to,
To share your fear, your hand, your one last breath.
I wish, I wish, I wish . . . but it is done,
And now I must surrender what is gone.

(#4) Lord's Prayer
Our father, who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done.
On earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our debts
As we have forgiven our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
And the power,
And the glory,
Forever.
Matthew 6:9-13

(#5) For Thee
Don't weep at my grave,
For I am not there,
I've a date with a butterfly
To dance in the air.
I'll be singing in the sunshine,
Wild and free,
Playing tag with the wind,
While I'm waiting for thee.
Author ~ Unknown

(#6) Funeral Blues
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone, Silence the pianos and with muffled drum Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead. Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves, Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one, Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun, Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods; For nothing now can ever come to any good.
Author ~ W. H. Auden

(#7) Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

(#8) Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

(#9) Autumn Rain
Do not stand by my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints upon the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain and
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morningfs hush,
I am that swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand by my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

(#10) Holiday Passing ~ Always Know
(Holiday) will soon be here, the time of year you passed.
Memories of you with me . . . the date approachs fast.
Sadness, an old unforgotten friend, visits with me now.
Sweetheart how I love you so, and wish you here, somehow.
So, I'm sending you this (Holiday) message, I just want you to know,
I will never forget you my dear (Loved One), and hope you'll always know.

(#11) To An Athlete Dying YoungThe time you won your town the race We chaired you through the market-place; Man and boy stood cheering by, And home we brought you shoulder-high.
To-day, the road all runners come, Shoulder-high we bring you home, And set you at your threshold down, Townsman of a stiller town.
Smart lad, to slip betimes away From fields where glory does not stay And early though the laurel grows It withers quicker than the rose.
Eyes the shady night has shut Cannot see the record cut, And silence sounds no worse than cheers After earth has stopped the ears:
Now you will not swell the rout Of lads that wore their honours out, Runners whom renown outran And the name died before the man.
So set, before its echoes fade, The fleet foot on the sill of shade, And hold to the low lintel up The still-defended challenge-cup.
And round that early-laurelled head Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead, And find unwithered on its curls The garland briefer than a girl's.

(#12) Now When The Number of My Years
Now when the number of my years Is all fulfilled, and I From sedentary life Shall rouse me up to die, Bury me low and let me lie Under the wide and starry sky. Joying to live, I joyed to die, Bury me low and let me lie.
Clear was my soul, my deeds were free, Honour was called my name, I fell not back from fear Nor followed after fame. Bury me low and let me lie Under the wide and starry sky. Joying to live, I joyed to die, Bury me low and let me lie.
Bury me low in valleys green And where the milder breeze Blows fresh along the stream, Sings roundly in the trees - Bury me low and let me lie Under the wide and starry sky. Joying to live, I joyed to die, Bury me low and let me lie.
Author ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

(#13) After Glow
Ifd like the memory of me
To be a happy one.
Ifd like to leave an after glow
Of smiles when life is done.
Ifd like to leave an echo
Whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
And bright and sunny days.
Ifd like the tears of those who grieve,
To dry before the sun
Of happy memories
That I leave now that life is done.

(#14) I'm Free
Donft grieve for me, for now Ifm free
Ifm following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My lifefs been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved onefs touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Donft lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now; He set me free.

(#15) Seasons of Grief
Fall We that are in the fall of our grief
It is crisp, like the autumn wind
We watch grief fall upon us
Like the autumn leaves that falls to the ground
Our days grow longer
We experience the pain of loss
Winter
We that are in the winter of our grief
It is cold, and dark, and bleak
We wonder if we will ever feel warm again
Our days are short, and nights, lonely and long
We pray for warmth again
Spring
We that are in the spring of our grief
Our days grow brighter, and warm
We are amazed at the renewal of our souls
Our faith is like the new buds, and spring flowers
It waits to explode forth
To bring new color into our souls
Summer
We that are in the summer of our grief
We look in wonder at our renewal
It's like the new green grass
The leaves upon the trees
The sun shines down upon us
It brings warmth to our souls
We are splashed in glorious warmth
Our hope is restored.

(#16) She is Gone
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what she would want:
smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.

(#17) Butterflies
Butterflies, the symbol of new life and rebirth
are fluttering all around me.
They circle my head, land on my arms and dance around my feet.
I've never seen so many butterflies . . . .
never seen so many kinds.
Delicate wings . . . colors like sky and grass and the earth.
Their flight is a motion of freedom and calmness and is so
beautiful to see.
Please let death be a butterfly, our loved ones soaring in
an existence that is too wonderful for us to comprehend!
Author ~ Unknown

(#18) When I'm Gone
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years I gave
you love, you can only guess
how much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love each have shown
but now it is time I traveled alone.
So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must,
then let your grief be comforted by trust
It is only for a while that we must part
so bless those memories within your heart
I will not be far away, for life goes on.
so if you need me, call and Iwill come.
Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear
All of my love around you, soft and clear.
Then when you must come this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile and "welcome home"
.

(#20) A Place Where Children Are
What kind of place
would heaven be with all its streets of gold, if all the souls,
that dwell up there like yours and mine, were old? How strange
would heaven's music sound when harps begin to ring, if children
were not gathered 'round to help the angels sing. The children
that God sends to us are only just a loan, He knows we need
their sunshine to make the house a home.
We need the inspiration
of a baby's blessed smile. He doesn't say they've come to stay,
just lends them for a while. Sometimes it takes them years to do
the work for which they come. Sometimes in just a month or two
our Father calls them home. I like to think some souls up there
bear not one sinful scar. I love to think of heaven as a place
where children are.

(#21) Come To Me
God saw you getting tired, and a cure
was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered,
"Come to Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, and
although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A
golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God
broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

(#22) Do Not Stand
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond's gift of snow I am the sunlight on ripened
grain
I am the autumn's gentle rain
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there
I did not die.

(#23) Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
There is a season for
everything, a time for every occupation under heaven.
A time for giving birth, A time for dying,
A time for planting, A time for uprooting what has been planted.
A time for killing, A time for healing;
A time for knocking down, A time for building.
A time for tears, A time for laughter;
A time for mourning, A time for dancing.
A time for throwing stones away, A time for gathering them up;
A time for embracing, A time to refrain from embracing.
A time for searching, A time for losing;
A time for keeping. A time for throwing away.
A time for tearing, A time for sewing;
A time for keeping silent, A time for spearking.
A time for loving, A time for hating;
A time for war, A time for peace.

(#24) Fireman's Prayer
When I am called to duty, God
Wherever flames may rage
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever be its age
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert and
Hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me
To guard my every neighbor
And protect their property
And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
Please bless with your protecting hand
My children and my wife

(#25) Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He
dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two
sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him, and the
other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed
before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He
noticed that many times along the path of his life there was
only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at
the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really
bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "LORD, you
said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all
the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome
times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't
understand why when I needed you the most you would leave me."
The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and
would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I
carried you."

(#26) I Said a Prayer for You Today
I said a prayer
for you today, and know God must have heard. I felt the answer in
my heart, although He spoke no word! I didn't ask for wealth of
fame (I knew you wouldn't mind). I asked Him to send treasures
of a far more lasting kind! I asked that He'd be near you, at the
start of each new day; To grant your health and blessings, and
friends to share your way! I asked for happiness for you, in all
things great and small. But it was for His loving care I prayed
the most of all!

(#27) Perhaps
Perhaps you sent a lovely card
Or sat quietly in a chair.
Perhaps you sent a floral piece,
If so, we saw it there. Perhaps you spoke the kindest words
As any friends could say,
Perhaps you were not there at all,
Just thought of us this day. Whatever you did, whatever your
part,
We prayerfully thank you for consoling our hearts.

(#28) Safely Home
I am home in heaven, dear ones.
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is a perfect joy and beauty
In the everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand,
Do it now, while life remaineth . . .
You shall rest in God's own land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting
Oh, the joy to see you come!

(#29) Taps
Day is done, gone the sun
From the lake, from the hill, from the sky.
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh. Thanks and praise, for our days,
'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, 'neath the sky. As we go, this we know, God is nigh.

(#30) Treasured Seasons
For everything there is
an appointed season,
And a time for everything under heaven -
A time for sharing, a time for caring.
A time for loving, a time for giving;
A time for remembering,a time for parting.
You have made everything beautiful in its time.
For everything You do remains forever.

(#31) The Broken Chain
Little did we know that morning
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
you are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again. Author ~ Unknown

(#32) To the Child in My Heart
O precious tiny sweet little one you will always be to me, so perfect, pure and innocent just as you were meant to be.
We dreamed of you and of your life and all that it would be,
we waited and longed for you to come and join our family.
We never had the chance to play, to laugh to rock to wiggle,
we long to hold you, touch you now and listen to you giggle.
I will always be your mother, he'll always be your dad,
you will always be our child, the child that we had.
But now you're gone...but yet you're here,
we'll sense you everywhere,
you are our sorrow and our joy, there's love in every tear.
Just know our love goes deep and strong,
we'll forget you never.
The child we had, but never had and yet we'll have forever.
Author ~ Unknown

(#33) The Cord
We are connected, my child and I,
by an invisible cord not seen by the eye.
It's not like the cord that connected us 'till birth,
this cord can't be seen by anyone on earth.
This cord does its work, right from the start,
it bonds us together, attached at the heart.
I know that its there though no one can see,
the invisible cord, from my child to me.
The strength of this cord, it's hard to describe.
it can't be destroyed, it can't be denied.
It's stronger than any cord, man could create,
it withstands the tests, can hold any weight.
And though you are gone, not here with me,
the cord is still there, but no one can see.
It pulls at my heart, I am bruised . . . I am sore,
but this cord is my lifeline, as never before.
I am thankful that God connected this way,
a mother and a child, death can't take it away!

(#34) If Tears could Build a Stairway
If tears could build a stairway
and memories a lane
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before I knew it
and only God knows why
My heart still aches in sadness
and secret tears will flow
What it meant to love you -
No one can ever knowBut now I know you want me
to mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
life still has much in store Since you'll never be forgotten
I pledge to you today -
A hallowed place within my heart
is where you'll always stay

(#35) There Is A Special Angel
There is a special Angel in Heaven
that is part of me.
It is not where I wanted him
but where God wanted him to be.
He was here but just a moment
like a night time shooting star.
And though he is in Heaven
he isn't very far.
He touched the heart of many
like only an Angel can do.
So I send this special message
to the Heaven up above.
Please take care of my Angel
and send him all my love.

(#36) Walk Me Down the Aisle Dad
Walk me down the aisle Dad Youfre the only one who can
Over these scattered rose petals
To where Ifll take his hand
Walk me down the aisle Dad
And fill my heart with peace
Whisper that youfre proud of me
Set my soul at ease
Walk me down the aisle Dad
Though it seems I walk alone
I carry you inside my heart
Life lessons not outgrown Walk me down the aisle Dad
And dry my endless tears
My lifefs forever changing
I miss you more each passing year If God would grant me just one wish
Ifd wish for one more day
For you to walk me down the aisle, Daddy
And give your daughter away.

(#37) Angel
Tear
drops, slow and steady, the pain so real and true,
God took another angel, and that angel, dear, was you.
Angel wings, upon the clouds, your body softly sleeps,
Hush now little princess, no more tears you have to weep.
Memories and little prayers, we all are mourning you,
But wefll celebrate the short life you led; we will never forget you.
I know God will look after you, now you are truly alive,
Your spirit soars beyond the moon, your legacy will survive.
Youfre beautiful, youfre endless, now stretch your wings and fly,
We love you so, I love you so, but now we say goodbye.
Close your pretty eyes, no more tears, just go and rest,
Let your soul lie peacefully, we know you did your best.
It was your time, so as we cry, go forward that extra mile,
You did what you were sent to do, you made everybody smile.
Author ~ Christelle Dardagos

(#38) We Thought of You Today
We thought of you today
But that is nothing new
We thought of you yesterday
And will tomorrow too
We think of you in silence
And make no outward show
For what it meant to lose you
Only those who love you know
Remembering you is easy
We do it everyday
Its the heartache of losing you
That will never go away

(#39) If Roses Grow in Heaven
If roses grow in Heaven Lord
Please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it everyday,
But there is an ache within my heart
That will never go away.

(#40) Remember Me
To the living, I am gone,
To the sorrowful, I will never return,
To the angry, I was cheated,
But to the happy, I am at peace,
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea . . .
As you look upon a flower and admire it's simplicity . . .
Remember Me.
Remember me in your heart.
Your thoughts, and your memories,
Of the times we loved,
The times we cried,
The times we fought,
The times we laughed.
For if you always think of me,
I will never have gone.

(#42) Miss Me - But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room, Why cry for a soul set free! Miss me a little - but not for long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me, but let me go. For this journey that we all must take And each must go alone; It's all a part of the Master's plan A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me, but let me go.
Author ~ Edgar Albert Guest

(#43) Friends Are Like Angels
Who brighten our days.
In all kinds of wonderful,
Magical ways.
Their thoughtfulness comes,
As a gift from above.
And we feel we're surrounded,
By warm, caring love.
Like upside-down rainbows,
Their smiles bring the sun.
And they fill ho-hum moments,
With laughter and fun.
Friends are like angels,
Without any wings.
Blessing our lives,
With the most precious things.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(#44) Death is Nothing
Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other
That we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes
We enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me,
Let my name be ever the household word that
It always was.
Let it be spoken without effort,
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am
Out of sight? I am but waiting for you
For an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner .
All is well.
Arthur ~ Canon Henry Scott Holland
